The risks of nuclear war are now very significant, this danger should not be underestimated, said Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with Channel One.

“The risks are very, very significant, I really don’t want these risks to be artificially inflated, and there are many who want to. The danger is serious, it is real, it cannot be underestimated, — said the minister.

Lavrov recalled that in January the countries of the “nuclear five”, including Russia, confirmed the thesis about the inadmissibility of nuclear war. “This is our principled position. We proceed from it,»,— added Lavrov.

Russian President Vladimir Putin at the end of February, three days after the start of the military special operation of Russian forces in Ukraine, ordered the Strategic Deterrence Forces (SSS) to be put on special alert.
