Russia is creating a fundamentally new 6th generation fighter, which at the development stage is called a promising long-range interception aircraft — PAK DP. This aircraft will be able to fly at hypersonic speeds and climb into outer space. Presumably, the first machines of this type may appear in the next decade.
Earlier it was reported that the development of the PAK DP is carried out by the design bureau named after. Mikoyan and the Nizhny Novgorod Design Bureau of the Sokol aircraft plant. The new aircraft will replace the world's fastest fourth-generation high-altitude fighter MiG-31, which is capable of flying at speeds of over 3,500 km/h. This is a fairly powerful combat vehicle today, which is the carrier of the hypersonic “Dagger” and armed with various long-range missiles to destroy enemy aircraft. The fighter can escort and attack about ten targets. Now, is preparing to replace it with an even more advanced fighter, the characteristics of which have not yet been fully disclosed.
The MiG-41 will set a new standard for the fastest aircraft in the world and will reach a maximum speed of more than 6,000 km/h, which will allow it to overcome all existing and promising air defense systems. The aircraft itself will be built on the principle of a flying wing, which will make it hardly noticeable to radars. The hull will be built from ultra-strong lightweight materials to withstand hyperspeed overloads. The fighter will receive a fundamentally new engine, which is at the design stage.
The PAK DP will continue the concept of the MiG-31, will become a long-range high-altitude interception fighter, while it will be able to detect and shoot down targets at a distance of 280 km without external target designation. To do this, he will receive a powerful phased array radar. Its targets will be enemy aircraft of all classes, including fifth-generation F-22 and F-35 fighters, as well as ballistic and cruise missiles, primarily long-range, all types of drones. Hypersonic “Dagger” will also be included in its arsenal, which means it will be able to hit all warships and various ground targets. The bomb load will be about 9 tons, all weapons will be placed inside the aircraft body.
Also, the MiG-41 will be able to shoot down low-orbit satellites, which are responsible for reconnaissance and organization of communications. To do this, he will be able to climb altitude in a area km and from there launch missiles. It is not excluded that the MiG-41 will be able to launch satellites for various purposes into the Earth's orbit.
Earlier it was reported that the MiG-41 will be able to perform the functions of a flying command post. In addition, an unmanned aerial vehicle is being developed on the basis of a manned aircraft, which will have better flight and speed characteristics.
